You know many people claim to believe in God according to a
poll from the Pew Research Center 92% of all Americans hold some form of belief
that there is a God. However, a majority of those do not fully believe in Jesus
Christ as the only way to heaven or that there is only one way to reach heaven.
The same can be said for how they treat the faith that they do have. In both
cases 2/3rd’s of those surveyed believed that there is not only one
way that the teachings of their faith can be interpreted. Now this was not just
a group of Christian denominations that were polled but also Jews, Muslims,
Buddhists and Hindus so it is not just a problem of the Christian faith. But
religion as a whole has lost its groundings in the American culture. Personally
I believe that is because we as a society have allowed ourselves to become
conflicted about is God real. Science has worked so hard to disprove the idea
in recent years and the main stream media has promoted every sin known to man
and God. While making sin and evil something that man has created to control
the masses. Sometimes I think they look at scripture and say, “Hey here is a
sin we have not tried.” Can you tell I have spent time in a few Psychology
classes?
I am dating myself here but there was a song a few years
back from Arron Tippin and the chorus used these words, “If you don’t stand for
something you’ll fall for anything.” As Christians we need to decide what we
believe and were we will draw the line. As Paul was writing his second letter
to the Corinthians he addressed this very issue.
1 Working together with him, then, we appeal to
you not to receive the grace of God in vain. 2 For he says, “In a
favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.”
Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:1-2 (ESV)
Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:1-2 (ESV)
You see they had taken the Gospel they had received and were
living there lives in vain unsure of whom God was and if He was able to supply
all their needs. Sounds a lot like the church today if you ask me were we have
a superficial relationship with God were we attend church out of duty not desire.
However I love what Paul tells them and it applies to each of us today, “Behold
now is the favorable time, behold now is your day of salvation.” We can’t
straddle the fence any longer God desires that we surrender our lives to Him.
Those who say well one day when I have cleaned up my life I will get saved.
Nothing you can do will ever get you there. You see it’s through grace that we
are saved not through works. Heaven would be a strange place if we all sat around
bragging about what we had done to get there. However, the one who paid for it
all was Jesus Christ. I want to challenge you today God has been patient with
you he has allowed you opportunity after opportunity to come to Him. However
scripture teaches at some point in your life your time will have passed and the
opportunities will be no more. Today is the day and now is the time to accept
the offer of salvation that God has placed before you. For those who have
already made this choice, are you confident in the God you serve. If so be bold
in your walk show people that the God you serve is that One True and only God
that parted the Red Sea and walked on water. Be blessed as you walk in the
Light of God’s Word.
