Acts
8:26-31, “26
Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Go south to the road—the desert
road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” 27 So he started out,
and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an
important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means
“queen of the Ethiopians”). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28
and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the
prophet. 29 The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay
near it.”
30 Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading
Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip
asked.
31 “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it
to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.”
Do you believe that you are called?
I know you are sitting there wondering if I am crazy you have no desire to be a
pastor or preacher. But do you know that once you have accepted Jesus into your
life you have the same responsibility as Phillip the Apostle. God has something
for your life that will have an impact on His kingdom. We are not all called to
preach but we are instructed in 1 Peter 3:15-16, “15 But in
your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always
be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for
the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak
maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their
slander.” Sometimes we are asked questions by those who do not believe or
understand the gospel. We are all called to understand what we believe and why
we believe it. We should be able to explain why we believe. When we have no
answer for them we miss the opportunity to witness for Christ. It may make the
difference between life and death for those who ask. Please take the time to
understand your own testimony ask yourself why do you believe and be prepared
for the next door God opens for you. Be
blessed in your life and be prepared.
