4 Then the people
of Israel set out from Mount Hor, taking the road to the Red Sea to go around
the land of Edom. But the people grew impatient with the long journey,5 and they began to speak against
God and Moses. “Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die here in the
wilderness?” they complained. “There is nothing to eat here and nothing to
drink. And we hate this horrible manna!”6 So
the Lord sent poisonous snakes among
the people, and many were bitten and died.7 Then
the people came to Moses and cried out, “We have sinned by speaking against the
Lord and against you. Pray that
the Lord will take away the
snakes.” So Moses prayed for the people.8 Then
the Lord told him, “Make a replica
of a poisonous snake and attach it to a pole. All who are bitten will live if
they simply look at it!”9 So Moses made a
snake out of bronze and attached it to a pole. Then anyone who was bitten by a
snake could look at the bronze snake and be healed!
Numbers 21:4-9 (NLT)
Do we miss the blessings that God is providing us? Often we
do. Our failure in this stems from the fact that what we desire and what we
need are two different things. The Israelites failed to recognize just how
blessed they were as they traveled through the dessert for 40 years. They did
not recognize the blessing that the food and water were during those 40 years.
The issue really stems from there fleshly desires of something different. You
see we today suffer from that same issue God is able to provide everything we
need if we trust Him. Yet we allow our desires for more and different to drive
our actions. Now Just like Israeli when we do this often trouble comes our way.
It may not be as obvious as poisonous snakes but it sure can have the same
results. It poisons our opinion of God and we can and do walk away from him
desiring to do it on our own. The solution to our problem is not much different
than that of Israeli. Salvation comes by where we look for it. Those who
refused to look on the image of the snake would die yet if they would humble
themselves and turn to it and ask forgiveness they would live. You can do that
same thing today. If you are out in the world and everything you have tried is
leading you closer to death change the direction you are looking. Stop looking
at the world to meet your needs and trust Jesus to meet them for you. I know it’s
hard to do but no one can do it as well as He can.
31 “He has come from above and is greater than anyone
else. We are of the earth, and we speak of earthly things, but he has come from
heaven and is greater than anyone else. 32 He testifies about what he has
seen and heard, but how few believe what he tells them! 33 Anyone
who accepts his testimony can affirm that God is true.34 For
he is sent by God. He speaks God’s words, for God gives him the Spirit without
limit.35 The Father loves his Son and has put everything into
his hands.36 And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life.
Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains
under God’s angry judgment.”
John 3:31-36 (NLT)
I challenge you to change your vision. Stop today and check
what direction you are looking. If it is at the world you will find something missing The promises here are limited
if it is to God and His Son Jesus the possibilities are unlimited. Trust in him
and you will find yourself with more than you can ever imagine in the end. Have
a Blessed day.
