Pray Like a Child

10 But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God.11 Then the officials went together to Daniel’s house and found him praying and asking for God’s help.12 So they went straight to the king and reminded him about his law. “Did you not sign a law that for the next thirty days any person who prays to anyone, divine or human—except to you, Your Majesty—will be thrown into the den of lions?”

Dan 6:10-12 (NLT)

You know lots of times we are asked to pray for others and we say we will but something prevents us from doing it. There are also those times when we are unable to pray for ourselves out of the thought we are not worthy of God’s grace and mercy. This is when I remember one of my favorite things. It is to see my niece pray when we go out to eat she requires we pray before every meal and is not afraid to pray loud even in a restaurant. But my favorite part is when she closes with God Bless Everyone. I understand from being around her why Jesus taught that we should be like children in our faith. They are not afraid to tell you what they think or what they believe. Only as adults do we become fearful of all those around us and their opinions of us. Having taught many children they will tell you stuff that will make you blush and stuff you really don’t want to know. But they are always sincere in what they are talking about and especially when they pray.  A child’s prayer is so real I honestly believe the toughest and hardest of hearts can be changed through it. I pray each of us could return to that place where our prayers are like that of a child’s unwavering and with faith that they will be answered. You see Daniel prayed that way. He knew what the rules were and still he prayed to the only person who was worthy of his prayers and his life. I am sure he prayed knowing that others were watching and waiting. Knowing they sought to harm him. He still prayed. If the government made it illegal to pray in public tomorrow would you still do it? I leave you with that thought. Your answer tells you who you really trust. Have a blessed day in the Lord may He guide your paths and make your way straight.
