Soldiers of the Cross

1 You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, 2 and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. 3 Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him.

2 Tim 2:1-4 (ESV)

On the day you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior you enlisted to serve God. I know that is not something many of us realize but we serve Him as a soldier of the cross. To serve as a soldier one must be willing to follow the orders of their commander. They must live by a code of conduct that holds them to a higher standard than those around them. As a soldier of the cross we have to be willing to make sacrifices; life as a soldier is not easy but we desire to serve the one who paid the greatest sacrifice for each of us. Jesus paid it all and we are covered by His sacrifice. Our real freedom comes from that relationship; do as a good soldier and serve Him with honor, live worthy of the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior. Serve with honor and pride because you serve the King of Kings and the Lord of Lord. Have a Blessed Day.

As I close I want to thank all the veterans who have served and are currently serving in the United States Military. Had they not been willing to sacrifice unto their death I do not know what our country would be like. If you are enjoying security and peace this morning thank a veteran. I ask you to be in prayer for our service members today as the place themselves in harm’s way to provide us the freedoms we are enjoying today. You ask what freedom? If you are able to read this thank a veteran because freedom of Speech is not available in every country in the world. Because it includes a bible verse this e-mail is banned in 51 countries. Freedom is not free someone always has to pay the price for others.
