Time Well Spent

3 Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.

Proverbs 3:3-4 (ESV)

Most parents spend their lives desiring the best for their children. We work long hours to provide for them and we always tell others we want more for them than we had the chance to have when we were their age. The problem is what they really need is to know they are loved by their mom and dad but also by God. You see children learn what is important by how their parents spend their time. They quickly learn if they are a priority and what else really is. It is easy to get caught up in the world and to be busy with other things but time is one of the things that we are all limited with. Often we realize to late the cost of our misuse of time. This is not a push for you to be in church every time the door is open but it is more about spending both quantity and quality time with your kids and your spouse. In the quality time bring your beliefs and understanding of God into that time you spend with them. In doing that you are showing them the love that God has shown for each of us because all love comes from Him. Time spent watching a child compete in a sport whether you know the sport or like it is time well spent. Going to a dance recital or a Christmas play is time well spent. How many parents look at their children’s grandparents and are amazed by all the stuff your kids get away with? That is because they have finally figured out what we as parents need to know time is limited and the older you get the faster it moves. So they are sure to spend as much time as possible with their grandkids even when they may not have spent it with their own children. That leads to regret no one wants to live that way. Today I challenge you to look for opportunities to spend time with your kids no matter how old. It’s the one thing we are all going to run out of. Use it to show them that God loves them because you love them. Teach them about God and what he has done for you through your willingness to rely on Him when everything looks bad. I can promise you it is a reward and a blessing to know that your children are walking in the truth.

3 For I rejoiced greatly when the brothers came and testified to your truth, as indeed you are walking in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

3 John 1:3-4 (ESV)

Have a blessed day in the lord May His love shine down on You today!
