God's Enemy

"You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely? 6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” This morning are you a friend or enemy of God?

James 4:4-6 (ESV)

I guess answering that might not be high on your list of things you are worried about. I understand just how hectic life can be and I am sure many times things happen that cause us to forget in whom we should place our trust. But scripture is very simple on this fact. If we should become so involved in the world that we forget to seek God for our needs and only turn to Him when there is nothing the world has to offer we are showing just how little respect we actually have for God. Scripture tells us that God is a jealous God and that When we accept Jesus Christ as our lord and savior the Holy Spirit comes and dwells in us. The Holy Spirit is jealous also and this division from within is part of why individuals can call themselves Christian and still live like Hell. They are choosing to live in the flesh and are seeking after only what the world has to offer. By doing this it sets up a struggle within themselves that in the end only leads to death. Scripture is clear we can attempt to live life on our own and be an enemy to God or we can live in humble obedience to the Holy Spirit and be blessed. Like alwayS the choice is yours. I pray God moves in your life to help you get on the path He has set before you as you walk in the light of God's word.
