God wants it all!

In Genesis 22-4-14, 4 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. 5 He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.”

6 Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, and he himself carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together, 7 Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?”

“Yes, my son?” Abraham replied.

“The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”

8 Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together.

9 When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. 11 But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!”

“Here I am,” he replied.

12 “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”

13 Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.”

Do you trust God with everything or do you spend your day relying on the best effort you can produce to try to get everything done. I can relate in some ways to what Abraham was going through as he traveled the three days to this mountain where God had told him to take his son and to sacrifice him.   The real question for you is would your faith be enough to follow God to this point. Is your faith enough to follow God down to your neighbor’s house and share the gospel with them? Is your faith in God strong enough to talk to your coworkers about him? We think God has placed so much responsibility on us in the little things we do for Him when in reality He has not asked you to do but one thing that is to be a faithful witness to his power in your life.

I highlighted a spot in the text Abraham new who he served and understood that God was able to deliver on every promise that He had made. He understood that if he took Isaac’s Life then God would give him another son to fulfill the promises. He understood one thing above all things that God was in control and that his best option was to follow Him wherever He was leading. Today we have that same choice to make. Do you trust God to see you through the tough times in your life? If so I will leave you with the words of Jesus found in Mark 8:34-35, 34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 35 For whoever wants to save their life[a] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.

I can only share with you what I believe is the truth. That if you are willing to obey the word of God and follow wherever he is leading the blessings and promises are yours for the receiving. Now I will tell you trials will still come but you no longer have to face them alone and with the Holy Spirit on your side the load is much easier to carry. Have a blessed day in the Lord and may His blessing shower upon you like rain.
