Transforming or transactional

"24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus. 25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither? 26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. 27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. 28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. "

John 6:24-29 (NKJV)

This morning I was wondering why and how you follow Jesus. These verses come the day after Jesus feeds the 5000 and works many miracles of healing but he knows why these people are there it's not because of a change that is in their lives but it's because the want a free meal. This might seem a little harsh but are you in that crowd? I once was but now I can tell you there is so much more to be gained if you seek afterJesus so he can change the all the junk in your life and provide purpose for you. To many of us have transactional relationship with Jesus and are content just with that. This relationship we have with Jesus is so much more than that. If you treated your spouse and children like we treat Jesus do you think they would want to spend time with you. And if you do than that might explain the problems in most of the homes today. We must take time to know Jesus on an intimate level just as we should know the others we love and care for each day. May your love for God and His Son be a changing force in your life. The more love you give to God the more love he returns to you and you will be able to share that with those around you. Stop treating Him like a bank and only dealing with Him when you are in need. He desires o much more than that for you.
