Reflection

19 As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person.

Proverb 27:19 (NLT)

This is a simple truth we are what we believe to be true in our hearts. Often we can put on a good face and fool ourselves and others. Yet I have learned that the truth is not something that stays hidden it always seems to come to the surface. When that happens it does not matter what face you try to show the world; just that everyone knows you to be a fraud. Jesus gave instruction and understanding to the apostles about the content of a man’s heart and the sin that it will allow.

15 But Peter said to him, “Explain the parable to us.” 16 And he said, “Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled? 18 But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. 20 These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.”

Matthew 15:15-20 (ESV)

In our lives we are good at putting on faces that hide what our hearts are truly bringing out in us. I challenge you today to examine your heart and to allow God to remove those things that are found to be wrong in it. Today is a great day to turn from our sin and walk in the light of His Word. Have a blessed day.
