Trust and Belief

35 While he was still speaking, there came from the ruler’s house some who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?” 36 But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.”

Mark 5:35-36 (ESV)

In our lives today often we find ourselves overwhelmed with the day to day activities that come our way. Sometimes we get our focus on them an allow them to bring fear into our lives. We worry about our jobs, our family, health and anyone of a 1000 things that we might be dealing with. We profess to be Christian and say that we trust Jesus with all that we do yet worry controls our every decision. In the scripture that these verses come from Jesus has been asked to come to the home of Jairus. His daughter is sick and He has asked Jesus to come and heal her. We read that within the past day Jesus has healed a man, who was posed by a legion of demons, brought healing to a woman who had an issue of blood for twelve years and those are just the miracles that are recorded. In every case Jesus brought a miracle to those who believed. It is the same for us today. Jesus travels on and Jairus daughter is brought back to life. We can look through scripture and find time and time again that Jesus was more than able to meet every need if those who sought Him truly believed. When there was doubt we see His power was limited, example was in His hometown. Today I ask you do you believe; if so maybe it’s time we stop living as those who are defeated and start claiming the promises of God in our lives. If you are struggling with your belief and it happens to us all. I will share these scriptures with you and ask you to pray over them in your own life.

5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”

Luke 17:5 (ESV)

22b But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” 23 And Jesus said to him, “ ‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” 24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”

Mark 9:22-24 (ESV)

There will be times that we find ourselves with doubts but we must always hold to the promises that Jesus loves us and that He came so we might have new life. His love for us knows no end and He desires only the best for each of us. I pray you will trust in His ways as you walk in the light of His Word.
