Humility Expresses True Love

Humility Expresses True Love

10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. 13 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.

1 John 4:10-13 (ESV)

I will be honest I am getting so much out of the book Humility by Andrew Murray and I wish everyone could get a copy and read it. You know I had to ponder on these verses of scripture because I had never really looked at them other than to read over it as I read my bible. They have never leaped out at me like they did today. They are straight forward in the fact that God’s love for us is shown in the sending of His son for our salvation. Not that He was sent for any purpose but express God’s love for us and to bring hope into our lives of one day being in his presence again. We often talk about you might be the only Christian someone meets and John addressed that issue to. He makes it clear that no one has seen God in the flesh, yet each day as we walk in humility sharing the love He has given us we are able to bring to others that same hope and love. When we live a life full of pride and arrogance people are not able to see God in us. We must live a life that allows God’s grace to shine through and we can only do that when we make the conscious decision to live our lives as the second most important individual in it. We must put our relationship to God first and then He is able through us to show the world what real love looks like. The key again though is humility. We must seek the low place so that HIS SPIRIT can fill us to overflowing so that everyone we meet knows without a doubt that God is real and he dwells and can dwell in every man woman and child if we will only humble ourselves and be obedient to Him. Have a truly blessed day.
