Power in the Voice

3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters. 4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. 5 The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon. 6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn. 7 The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire. 8 The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh. 9 The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory. 10 The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever. 11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

Psalm 29:3-11

I was just looking at words that are used to describe God throughout scripture and the word powerful caught my mind and this was the scripture that it was drawn to. When we think of God we understand him to be powerful. But do we realize just what that really means. You see when we look at scripture what is truly powerful about God is his voice. When he spoke the world into existence all he did was speak. Do you realize how much power that is. He never lifted a finger to create anything he just spoke it in to existence. You may know someone who has a commanding presence when I was a kid it was James Earl Jones when you hear his voice you are automatically drawn to him. Kids today would recognize him as voice the father lion in the Lion King. Yet God's voice is so much different and more powerful than any human voice. Scripture tells us that he created everything with his voice he can also destroy it in like manner. You see being made in His image we have a little bit of that power in us. James tells us that we hold both death and life in our tongues. How we use them will determine growth in others. We can us them to build them up or to tear them down. We need to understand God's voice is above all the rest of creation in it there is control. He brings into our lives joy and peace as he speaks to us through his word. I am thankful I serve a god who can fix anything with just one word from His glorious voice. to often today we do not know what his voice sounds like because we truly do not know Him. To know him better we must humbly seek for Him in His word. When we allow Him to speak into our lives it will only be blessings for that is what He desires for His people. Have a blessed day in the lord.
