Doing Nothing is Doing Something

20 Meanwhile, the leading priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas to be released and for Jesus to be put to death.21 So the governor asked again, “Which of these two do you want me to release to you?” The crowd shouted back, “Barabbas!”22 Pilate responded, “Then what should I do with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” They shouted back, “Crucify him!”23 “Why?” Pilate demanded. “What crime has he committed?” But the mob roared even louder, “Crucify him!”24 Pilate saw that he wasn’t getting anywhere and that a riot was developing. So he sent for a bowl of water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood. The responsibility is yours!”25 And all the people yelled back, “We will take responsibility for his death—we and our children!” 26 So Pilate released Barabbas to them. He ordered Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip, then turned him over to the Roman soldiers to be crucified.

Matthew 27:20-26 (NLT)

Have you ever allowed something to happen that you know was wrong but believing it would avoid further conflict you stood by and allowed it anyhow. What do you believe would have happened had Pontius Pilate had taken a stand and said, “I will not crucify an innocent man?” I don’t believe it would have changed the situation any. He gave into the pressures being placed upon Him as they threatened to tell Caesar that he was harboring an enemy. Like many of us today we allow things to occur just to save face and our position in life. I often wonder how many things have been allowed to occur in churches because individuals were afraid they might lose a position and salary. Allowing the devil a stronghold within the church; there is an old saying that goes, “doing nothing is still doing something.”   It is still a choice when we stand by with our hands in our pockets and we will in the end be accountable for that choice. Pilate may have washed His hands that day but when he stands before God what do you think awaits His decision. Do you in your daily walk chose to be a witness for Jesus Christ or out of convenience allow the world to control who others see you as? The song goes you have to stand for something or you will fall for anything! Today in your walk with God are you bringing Him honor or are you hiding who he is walking in shame? I pray it is with Honor that you are representing who Jesus is in your life each of us have a story to tell about where He has brought us from You never know who’s life it might change if we are willing to take a stand for Him. Have a Blessed day as you walk in the light of God’s Word.
