16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the
power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also
to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from
faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
Romans 1:16-17 (ESV)
Sometimes I have to wonder if as Christians if we are not ashamed
of God’s word and the promises that are in it. You know we often treat it with
a form of contempt. I don’t know that we
do it maliciously but when individuals come to us with problems we are often
slow to point them to the only real answers to the trial of life. The bible
covers just about every issue one might face in their life time from growing
old (Titus 2:2-5) to the death of a child (2 Samuel 12:21-24) I can point to
people and places that God has shown us in His word about how we are to act and
respond to those situations. But the key to that is the end of verse 17 we must
accept what we read on faith that if God did it for them He will do it for us. As
I close we have no righteousness apart from our faith I God and His power to
fulfill all his promises. I challenge you today to allow your faith to grow and
so that when others come asking what to do you can obey the words of Peter in 1
Peter 3:15-16;
15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy,
always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for
the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, 16 having
a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good
behavior in Christ may be put to shame.
1 Peter 3:15-16 (ESV)
We are more than conquers when we have faith in Jehovah have
a blessed day as you walk in the light of His Word.
