Faithful Instruction

12 And on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, his disciples said to him, “Where will you have us go and prepare for you to eat the Passover?” 13 And he sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the city and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him, 14 and wherever he enters, say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says, “Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?” 15 And he will show you a large upper room furnished and ready; there prepare for us.” 16 And the disciples set out and went to the city and found it just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

Mark 14:12-16 (ESV)

You know as you read this verse of scripture it really might not seem like something that we can learn much from or even that it is very important. Yet I want you to know every word of God that we find in the scriptures is relevant to our lives as a Christian even if you might not realize it the first time you read it. This verse of scripture and several others tell us one thing that is so very important. That is when Jesus gave instructions you would always find what he said just as He said it. This occurs again when He prepares for the triumphal entry into Jerusalem found in Matthew 21 and Luke 19. When Jesus gave instruction what the disciples always found things as He said.

How does that apply to us? Well Jesus left for us in His word many things that we need to be doing and looking for in our lives in service to Him. So if His instructions then to those who followed Him were always true and correct than the instruction we find in the Bible will also be true. There is coming a day when the words of Jesus will be illegal and people will no longer desire to hear them. Before that day arrives we should be obedient to His Word. Are we doing what He has instructed us to do? If we are obedient like the disciples that walked with Him we will always find what He has promised us; those things will be there in the end. If we have chosen only to obey what makes us happy and feel good in His word than we will never truly be content. I challenge you today like everyday to trust in His word and apply it to your life so you will not be left wanting. It is full of faithful promises and instructions that we are to obey and do till He returns. I pray He strengthens your hand as you live in the light of His word.
