Soon Coming Famine

11 “The time is surely coming,” says the Sovereign Lord, “when I will send a famine on the land— not a famine of bread or water but of hearing the words of the Lord.12 People will stagger from sea to sea and wander from border to border searching for the word of the Lord, but they will not find it.

Amos 8:11-12 (NLT)

Hope this finds you willing and ready to hear from God. I was reading and I came across these verses and realized we are beginning to see this famine taking shape but I believe there will be a day when God’s word will not be available to us at all. As each day passes more and more laws are passed that are designed to limit our rights to the free exercise of our religious beliefs and the sharing of God’s word found in the Bible. If you do not believe me you need to look at some the other countries in the world were to preach out of the book of Romans is considered hate speech because it gives a list of sins that are direct offenses against God. Those days are coming for America to. The military has already begun instructing chaplains who will not reconcile with homosexuality that they might want to consider a career change. Because they could find themselves facing charges or being restricted in what they say under the Army tolerance policies. To say anything harmful or hateful about other service members is grounds for punishment leading up to discharge. Let me assure you if they can force it on service members and take away their rights it is just a matter of time before they will take yours; it sets a precedent and they will use it to enact new laws governing speech in our personal lives. I say all that because we must take God’s word and hide it in our hearts. Learning it and allowing it to effect change in who we are and how we live. We should desire to be a living testimony to the word that God has given us. I challenge you today begin to read and memorize as much of scripture as you can; put it in your heart, and what is in your heart will flow out into your life and those around you. God’s word is the only real hope for those who do not know Him and a life lived in accordance to it is the best testimony anyone can share or experience. Before the famine comes be prepared; make time to spend in His word your future depends on it. Have a blessed day and learn to walk in the light of His word.
