The Soon Coming End

7 The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers.8 Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.9 Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.10 God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.11 Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.
1 Peter 4:7-11 (NLT)
First and Second Peter are two of my favorite books of the bible Peter has taken the time to teach us what we should be about as Christians and how each of us should treat and interact with each other and the world. In the verses I shared he instructs us to continue in love as time draws to an end. And we can honestly look and believe with all that is going on in the world that it is soon coming. To share Love for one another and live in fellowship together; cheerfully sharing our homes and meals so that no one will have want.   We each have been and are called by God to a time such as this.
There is a second part to this scripture and it has to do with our spiritual gifts. We are to use them to serve one another. There is a wealth of Knowledge and understanding about things that I myself do not possess it comes from others who have years of experience. But I want to remind you that you are still needed in your church and community. Thank You for what you have done; but I also want to challenge you with a question. What are you doing now? The trumpet has not sounded and the Lord has not yet returned. I can find nowhere in the scripture that God calls us to turn from are assigned work He has given us. There is always something you can do that God will continue to bless; if it is helping in the soup kitchen or food bank to praying there is always a need and you have the experience that is often sought by those who are struggling with life; because you have already lived there. We must remember where God has taken us from and in those trials help others to move forward and walk with Him through life. As we show the love that Jesus has shown us we bring God Glory. So know matter our age we have work to do. You know Moses was 40 when he went into the dessert to tend sheep; he was 80 when he went to see Pharaoh and lead the Jews out of Egypt and at 120 years old he walked to his own funeral. If we trust God as much as Moses did He will use us till he calls us Home or the trumpet sounds which ever day comes first.
